    LED Driver Array for
    Industrial Printers
High-precision LED driver ASIC enabling faster,
    sharper industrial digital printing

In high-performance laser/LED based industrial printing, speed and accuracy depend on how precisely each individual LED in the printhead is driven. Modern digital printers require consistent current delivery, minimal crosstalk, and stable operation even as temperatures rise during intensive high-speed print cycles.

To help manufacturers push print quality and throughput to new levels, Cyient Semiconductors provides a custom LED driver ASIC designed to manage 198 LEDs with exceptional accuracy - all within the tight mechanical constraints of a narrow printer head. The solution supports faster print speeds, cleaner imaging, and more reliable long-term operation.

Bringing the solution to life

Cyient Semiconductors developed a custom LED driver ASIC that brings accuracy, thermal stability, and high-speed control together in one compact device. The chip uses a segmented DAC architecture, dedicated current sources, and crosstalk-aware layout techniques to guarantee uniform LED behavior across the entire array.

Key Features:
  • 198 LED drivers, each controlled via an 8-bit segmented DAC
  • Wide current range per LED: 125–2000 μA, independent of temperature
  • Crosstalk-optimized layout for consistent output across all LEDs
  • SPI configuration interface plus SSTL high-speed data support
  • 500 Mbps LVDS communication
  • Built-in diagnostic circuitry for fault detection
  • Reusable ATE diagnostics for efficient testing
  • Compact design suitable for narrow print head integration
Every aspect of the ASIC focuses on delivering stable current, controlling thermal effects, and ensuring that the print head produces clean, consistent patterns at high speeds.

Where it’s used today

This LED driver ASIC is a key enabler in latest-generation industrial digital printers, supporting:

•    Faster print speeds without sacrificing quality
•    High-precision control for large LED arrays
•    Improved stability under heavy thermal and electrical loads
•    Reduced external circuitry thanks to on-chip diagnostics and integrated interfaces

Its combination of precision, integration, and thermal resilience helps printer manufacturers deliver sharper output while keeping designs compact and efficient.
